Screen Printing

Screen printing can be applied to your enclosure, to add legend, for decoration, or any other requirement you may have along these lines. Almost all of our screen printing work is done when your box is still flat. This then gives us the advantage of ease of registration, without any jig or fixture problems.

It also gives you the advantage that you can have printing on two different sides, joined by a fold, at the same cost as just one side, as we print the part when it is flat.

The Bafbox process requires that we use a textured surface for all the component parts. This is fine for machining, but of course screen printing needs as smooth a surface as possible.

As a compromise we use a very lightly texture plastic whenever we want to print on it. Therefore there are some basic guidelines to be followed to give good images and lettering.

The results for not following these guidelines manifest themselves in inconsistent quality, 'bleeding', and in general poorly defined print.

Printing is inherently very subjective, in so far as one acceptable level of definition to one person, may not be so for another.

Similarly an 'On/Off' legend is likely to be less looked at and studied than say a company logo, and therefore may be judged under a different set of 'rules'.

The following set of guidelines is not exhaustive, and at the end of the day, each job needs to be looked at in terms of its own particular criteria.
GUIDELINES

Ask us to advise on suitability of your proposals.

Make your lettering, lines, logos etc. as bold as possible, (250 micron minimum thickness).

Space out letters as much as possible.

Try and make holes within legend as large as possible.

Ensure all artwork is square, and a datum point is clearly marked.

Use a software package such as Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator or Quark.

If you wish we can create artwork for you. We will always proof the design for you, to check position, spellings, and colours.
